A stroller is basically a tool to transport a child or an infant from one place to another. The most commonly used strollers are prams, though a number of other options are also available. The main aim is to carry or hold the baby in such a way so as to provide maximum comfort both to the baby and the person holding the stroller.
The main things to be considered before purchasing a baby stroller are as follows:
1. A vast variety of patterns and models are readily available in the market. These come at varied prices and different features. Most people think that a more expensive model is better from an inexpensive one. Nothing can be farther from truth and the parent needs to check the comfort of the baby and not the look and feel of the stroller.
2. The most important thing to check is the quality and ease of application of the brake. This is extremely important so as to stop the baby stroller as and when required without any chances of the brakes not working properly.
3. The stroller is there for the comfort of the baby and hence care should be taken to check how easily it can be stretched so as to accommodate a sleeping baby.
4. Certain strollers double up as car seats and hence if the baby has to travel in a car, it is best to pick up a model that can operate both as a pram and a car seat.
5. Most of the models state the age limit till which they can be used. This is not the correct way to ascertain whether it is perfect for your need. A better way is to check the weight limit of a model as different children have different weights at different ages.
6. Another thing to consider is whether you want to use the same pram when the baby grows up or would you like to purchase a new one. If you plan to use the pram only till the baby grows then select the one with the maximum number of facilities. However, if you want to use it even when the infant grows up to be a young child then select one that has leg rests.
A baby stroller should therefore be selected keeping in mind your own specific requirements. It is something that is going to be there with you for years and hence it makes sense to select the one best suited to your and your baby’s needs.
